Bio
Dana Romanoff combines her passion for photography, cultural studies, social issues and multimedia to produce intimate and compelling stories. She believes these stories have the power to break down barriers and build new bridges, whether they span oceans or connect backyards.
As a freelance photographer and multimedia producer, Dana’s work has appeared in numerous magazines, newspapers, and anthologies. Dana’s documentary video “No Man’s Land: the Women of Mexico” was short-listed for the 2010 Anthropographia Multimedia & Human Rights Award and is currently being screened at film festivals around the globe. Dana has received many honors including being part of a team at The Charlotte Observer newspaper named a Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal Finalist in Public Service in 2008. Dana’s work has been exhibited in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Charlottesville and Fort Collins.
Dana holds a B.A. in Cultural Studies/Anthropology from the University of Rochester and an M.A. in Photojournalism and Visual Communication from Ohio University. Raised in upstate New York and based in Boulder, Colorado, Dana is an avid outdoor adventurer and has lived and worked around the U.S., South and Central America and West Africa. Dana is fluent in English & Spanish and can exchange greetings, order a beer, and negotiate taxi prices in a few African dialects.
